Meet Mayeni
Mayeni is a film director and photographer working across narrative, experimental, and creative advertising. A recent graduate of Emerson College & Paris College of Art, she holds a dual degree in Film Art and spent three years living between France, Boston, and the Netherlands.
Her work explores cross-cultural identity, Black femininity, isolation, the corporeal and the cost of visibility. Through rich color, disruptive soundscapes, and audacious visuals, she builds playful, enigmatic worlds that blur intimacy and performance.
In 2026, her debut narrative short Babyface received the Outstanding Achievement Award (Student Short) from Indie Short Fest, where it was also nominated for Best Student Short and Best Student Female Director. The film additionally received an Honorable Mention (Fiction Short Form) from the NATAS Student Production Awards.
Her creative advertising practice sits at the intersection of identity, humor, and visual exaggeration, translating emotionally charged ideas into concept-led campaigns across film, photography, and social platforms.
She redefines strength by making space for emotional complexity — the sensitive, the passionate, the “too much.” Whether it's through a character study or self-recorded transformation, Mayeni challenges perceptions and centers those silenced by life's messy nuances.
